Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell LLP
When a leading national law firm needed multilingual court reporters, interpreters, videographers, and reprographic services for a complex intellectual property case, TLS provided a comprehensive suite of solutions to meet their needs. Despite challenging workloads and incredibly short turnarounds, TLS was able to provide all the relevant transcripts and exhibits, which were subsequently hosted on TLS's proprietary online repository, Case Interactive, for both sides to securely download, view, and print. In the end, the opposing counsel was so impressed with our services that they also employed TLS for their case.
The Client
Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell LLP is a leading national law firm with offices in Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, London, Los Angeles, New Orleans, New York, Sacramento, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. As a full-service firm, Locke Lord has over 35 practice areas and provides services across virtually every legal domain. The firm's gross revenues and size place it within The American Lawyer's "Am Law 100" annual rankings of the top American law firms.
The Challenge
Locke Lord's client was involved in a complex case involving an intellectual property dispute. The law firm needed to find a company who could provide real-time court reporting, videography, and interpreting services for over 30 depositions that spanned the entire country. In addition, Locke Lord required high-volume, on-site exhibit scanning and copying, which would have to be completed in a single-day turnaround—a unique and difficult challenge. Finally, the parties involved needed a secure way to access and share all of the relevant case documentation and exhibits online.
The Solution
As the world's largest provider of multilingual support services to the legal industry, TransPerfect Legal Solutions (TLS) was the ideal partner to meet Locke Lord's needs for this case. TLS immediately got to work locating qualified court reporters, interpreters, and videographers for depositions in several locations across the country. Each and every one of these professionals had at least 5 years of experience in their relevant field as well as specialized expertise in intellectual property law, ensuring that the highest quality of service was maintained at all times.
In fact, as the depositions continued, the opposing counsel was so impressed with the quality and efficiency of our work that they also began scheduling all of their depositions with TLS. Suddenly, we were faced with a significantly increased workload and a host of new challenges. On top of nearly double the previous volume of interpreting, court reporting, and videography requests, TLS was now asked to schedule numerous depositions in locations ranging from Virginia to California and from Florida to Canada—sometimes with less than an hour's notice. However, with extensive experience adapting to unpredicted changes and evolving requests, TLS came through every time. And through careful coordination among our global network of resources, we were also able to meet both firms' needs for single-day turnaround exhibit scanning and copying without a hitch.
Over a two-month period, TLS produced tens of thousands of transcript pages and well over 200 hours of video related to the case. All the transcripts and exhibits were then uploaded to TransPerfect's proprietary hosting platform, Case Interactive, which provided a secure online repository for both sides to access, download, and print relevant case files. From beginning to end, TLS was able to provide a comprehensive and customized suite of solutions for both parties in the matter, facilitating efficiency and streamlining workflow throughout the case lifecycle.
